Tarrant County College requires a state-approved placement test to satisfy admission requirements. Most first-time-in-college students are required to take a placement test to determine college readiness in Mathematics and Reading/Writing before enrolling in college-level courses.
The Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA) is the state-approved placement test. To satisfy TSIA and course prerequisite requirements, the student must meet or exceed the minimum passing standards. Information about TSIA is available at any campus Testing Center, College catalog, or visit TSI Assessment.
Students are required to complete the following tasks before registering to take the TSI Assessment:
- Watch the mandatory Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) video which provides an overview of the TSI Assessment, sample questions and additional study resources.
- Watch the PAA video on campus or online through the current student portal.
