- Graduates will be able to identify common types of plant diseases or disorders by appearance and be able to classify them as biotic or abiotic problems.
- Graduates will be able to read and interpret fertilizer labels to determine proper usage for healthy plant growth and environmental sustainability.
- Graduates will be prepared to take and successfully pass the State of Texas exam for a private pesticide applicator license.
- Graduates will be proficient at reading and understanding a basic nutrient soil analysis to determine how to improve the quality of plant growth by balancing the soil nutrient content of the soil.
- Graduates will be able to identify the common herbaceous plants grown and marketed in the retail horticulture industry.
- Graduates will have the ability to identify common insect pests by completing an insect collection from the environment organized by taxonomic orders.
