Program Student Learning Outcomes


  1. Graduates will demonstrate professional behaviors of accountability and professionalism according to the legal and ethical standards while demonstrating responsibility for continued competence, reflection, self analysis, and self-care.
  2. Graduates will use clinical reasoning and established evidence-based policies as the basis for decision making in implementing an individualized plan of care for patients and their families.
  3. Graduates will provide safe, compassionate, basic nursing care that are respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs, and values through a supervised, directed scope of practice.
  4. Graduates will implement measures to promote quality and a safe environment for patients, self, and other while demonstrating knowledge of the Texas Nursing Practice Act and the Texas Board of Nursing Rules regarding safe practices, as well as all federal, state, and local government and accreditation organization safety requirements and standards.
  5. Graduates will utilize effective communication skills when interacting with patients, their families, and the interdisciplinary health care team to assist in the planning, delivery, and coordination of patient centered care.
