Students petitioning to FDNS 2168 Practicum must earn a "B" or better in FDNS 1309 and undergo and receive a clear criminal background check and negative substance abuse screening. In addition, students are required to meet physical requirements and Dietetics Program immunization requirements, proof of CPR for healthcare provider and ServSafe Manager Certification, and a valid Texas driver's license prior to starting practicum rotation.
Certificate completers are NOT eligible to sit for the national NDTR Credentialing examination.
Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Requirement for Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs
All students enrolled in an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) or Level 2 certificate program must meet the requirements of the Texas Success Initiative (TSI). Licensing Notice: (HB 1508)
This program prepares a student for an occupational license. However, the student may not be eligible for licensing if they have a prior criminal history. For more details, see House Bill 1508 Licensing Requirements.
